국악의향연,가야금축제(이대 곽은아 교수)

안녕하십니까?
 
4월 22일 부터 28일까지 베이지역에서 한국 가야금 음악축제가 열립니다.
기타와 첼로, 클라리넷,피아노 등의 서양악기와도 같이 공연될 예정이라 동창 여러분들에게 좋은 음악을
선사하게 될 것 같습니다.
이대에서는 5명의 교수가 참석할 예정이므로 저희 동창님들이 많이 참석해 주시면 대단히 감사하겠습니다.

*marked 5 persons are all alumni of Ewha Woman's University.  The main guest artist, Professor Eun-Ah Kwak is an very active member of the Alumni Association of Ewha in Korea.

Since this festival in Korea will be by the invitation by the Dean (currently Chair of Music Department after they changed to College of the Arts), Jeong, Bok-ju and they are the main host for the festival.

FESTIVAL FOR KOREAN GAYAGEUM AND WESTERN INSTRUMENTS:

TO:  Participating composers (faculty and graduate students), performers, collaborating institutions, presenters, supporters

Dear Friends,

After a number of intensive workshops (25 hours in February 2006) and work-in-progress rehearsals (November 2006, February 2007) with Korean Gayageum performers, Professor  Eun-Ah Kwak and her associates from Ewha Women's University in Seoul, we are presenting our fifteen newly composed pieces by faculty and graduate student composers from UC Santa Cruz, UC Davis, and UC Berkeley as well as two pieces from Korea. There will be eleven events in California and in Seoul, Korea.

This project is the first attempt by any group of composers at a Western university to learn to play Gayageum - or any other traditional Korean instrument - in order to compose Gayageum  solos and ensemble pieces with western instruments.   It has been an invaluable experience for all involved.  Thank you for all of your contribution for this project.
